My approach is compassionate, direct and supportive. You can relax and be deeply seen and heard. I practice somatic (body-oriented) psychotherapy which moves beyond talk and gets your entire being engaged. Integrating your mind and body can create new brain pathways, so you may find yourself easily adapting new behaviors.
We will focus on what is important to you on all levels: physical, emotional, and spiritual. We will consider the forces that impact you from family to society. Through mindfulness, we will embolden the part of you that is unchanging: Central, Connected, Compassionate, Creative, Curious, and Courageous. Therapy with me will help you achieve what matters most to you. You will be invited to come home to yourself, restoring balance, strength, and ease.
My clients delight in my non-judgmental attitude and celebration of their successes. They appreciate my calm, grounding presence and creative solutions.
I work well with people experiencing
• challenging relationships, identity issues
• anxiety, depression, obsessions
• life transitions • body symptoms including pain, IBS, sleep issues
• low self-esteem
• negative impacts of the oppressive society
Who are any of the following:
• highly sensitive/introverts • artists or self-employed
• from mixed cultural backgrounds, including children of immigrants
• living a non-traditional lifestyle or wanting to break out of the status quo
• wanting more than talk therapy
Relationships can be one of the most rewarding and challenging aspects of our lives, directly impacting our well-being. Interactional patterns we learned as children inform our sense of safety and security in adult relationships. Too often these relationships taught us patterns that are actually barriers to intimacy. I will help you remove these obstacles, moving you out of the realm of shame and blame, and into understanding and harmony.
If you have cultural or other differences, we will build communication skills and understanding for the deeper emotions and needs that underlie the behavior. Using a psychobiological and mindful approach, I will assist you in learning how to attune to each other’s internal state, helping you easily create a loving and secure bond. From this position, you can face the world together - stronger and more joyful.
I have been a counselor for over two decades, and recently received my MA in Somatic Counseling Psychology from the California Institute of Integral Studies. I have also been the recipient of excellent therapy, so I know change can happen magically together.
