Registered Associate Marriage and Family Therapist 100761
I may not know exactly what brought you to this moment, but I know what it is to sit across from a caring, empathic person who also challenges you when necessary. I know how important it is to have someone to witness your experience and to practice new skills with. My presence in the room offers warmth, understanding and authenticity, along with moments of lightheartedness. I am able to see the problems of others from many angles at a distance and can help clients think of their situation in a different light.
As part of your therapy team, my small pup Violet provides the gentle kindness and acceptance that only dogs can give.
MY BACKGROUND AND EXPERIENCE
For the past several years I have worked with survivors of domestic violence in association with W.O.M.A.N., Inc. Many struggle with anxiety, depression, and negative self-talk, have experienced childhood trauma, and deal with recurring symptoms of PTSD. I have supported and helped clients to name their experiences, process difficult emotions, and increase self-compassion and acceptance. Together, we have focused on exploring and creating their vision for their life.
My primary approach is relational, client-centered, and strength-based. Ultimately, we are two people sitting in a room together talking. The trust and respect between us as client and therapist are paramount on this collaborative journey. The overall background for my frame of reference is psychodynamic, meaning I take into account the greater context of your life including how early experiences and family influences may be affecting you now.
I deeply value the sacredness of the therapeutic experience. Each pairing of client and therapist creates a unique alchemy and opportunity for growth. The process of self-discovery can be demanding but it is also very rewarding. It is worth the effort. What is uncovered by this continual unfolding may be a greater sense of agency, more solid trust of your inner wisdom, or the ability to acknowledge and accept multiple parts of yourself.
