Effective therapy is both challenging and nourishing. It increases your self-understanding and awareness of motivations, thoughts, and feelings. Therapy helps you in navigating your inner experience, moving through what’s in the way of freedom and contentment in your relationships, and getting what you desire.
I am a holistic therapist who works with individuals and couples to address transparency and truth, developing conscious relationships, vulnerability, taking risks, life purpose, feeling stuck, isolation, envy, dependency, career/financial shifts, lifestyle changes, or the general feeling that life isn’t what it could be.
My style is to be warm and supportive but frank with my perspective. Authenticity is valuable in my relationships. If we were to work together, you could expect me to be open and straightforward with you. This allows for mutual trust with which we can explore what might be uncertain or difficult for you to confront alone.
I excel with people that are on the cusp, longing for more fulfilling ways of living, going through transition, and/or in relationships that they want to transform with an open, honest approach. Those that work with me are encouraged to do what is necessary for their growth so that they can move on to become the powerfully fulfilled people they want to be.
I practice mindfulness personally and professionally. In therapy sessions, mindfulness allows me to better sustain open attention and attune to what is arising in you, in me, and between us. I am experienced in leading meditation and teaching mindfulness. If you are interested in learning or using mindfulness, it can be a useful tool for deeper exploration in therapy and increasing the ease of daily living.
An interest in fitness and nutrition led me to become a personal trainer and obtain a Certificate in Nutrition from Cornell. I am in my third year of Saybrook’s Clinical Psychology Ph.D program. I have been into personal growth work for a decade, developing myself so that I can fully appreciate and enjoy life without my issues and discomfort getting in the way. I spend my free time in nature as much as possible, which has been essential to my personal development. I play several instruments, sing, and write.
I’ve developed a program for psychotherapy/awareness-focused wilderness expeditions into Desolation Wilderness, outside of South Lake Tahoe. Nature therapy sessions or individual/ couple/ group backpacking trips are unconventional therapeutic modes, but some find the experience particularly valuable, especially those that feel like therapy solely in an office setting isn’t a good fit.
