Master of Science, Counseling
Spending 50 minutes with yourself and a therapist each week is like resting in the eye of a hurricane. It can buy you time to reorient yourself to what is happening in your life, allowing you to look inward for clues and create the additional capacity to build cognitive and relational tools. I work under set models to help address the issues such as anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, LGBTQ-issues, and relationship issues.
Before becoming a therapist, I worked in the startup and tech industry for multiple years and spent my free time reading a lot of psychology studies and books. I am most grounded as a therapist through my experience as a client on the couch, when I experienced the power of the therapeutic process. I also have a daily meditation practice that helps me grow my capacity for facing pain, ambiguity, and the unknown.
I have experience working with a diverse population of adults and adolescents around the Bay Area, specifically focused on anxiety, depression, grief, relational and communication issues, LGBTQ-related issues, life transitions, and childhood trauma or adverse experiences. I’ve met with clients as young as three years old using play therapy and as seasoned as 65 years old and above.
My work is informed by relational and attachment theory, research into mindful self-compassion, and the understanding that our sense of self, like the hemispheres of our brains, is not just one fixed self, but is made up of many parts.
I hold a systemic view of your culture, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender, and intersecting identities, and the impact of trauma over generations as well as a neurological understanding of the impact of trauma on the mind and body. I am also trained in CBT and solution-focused brief therapy, which I incorporate throughout sessions when appropriate.
Each week, I follow your mood and state like a human version of a mood tracking app. Keeping track weekly allows us to view the constellation of your experience over time in a way that surfaces patterns and identifies the conditions that keep you stuck or help you to prosper.
My style is warm, curious, and attentive as well as playful and directive when needed or desired.
