- Registered Associate Marriage and Family Therapist
Master of Science, Counseling
I meet with couples, individuals and adolescents from a diverse range of backgrounds struggling to communicate or emotionally connect with others and parts of themselves. Typically, I work with clients that are holding generations worth of grief and trauma without recognizing it. Meeting regularly helps a client and I to discover, together, the conditions that allow for joy or suffering in their life.
I’m an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist working with a diverse population of couples, individuals, and adolescents. I have worked with children as young as 3 years old and individuals 65+ years old in various settings throughout the San Francisco Bay Area. When not reading psychotherapy books or articles, I can be found biking around the Bay, writing, walking the mountains or viewing the sea.
Some of my specialities: complex and childhood trauma, negative self-talk, chronic anxiety/depression, queer issues and spirituality. I hold a safe space for all clients' intersecting identities — culture, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender. I have a daily meditation practice that influences my approach to a great degree.
My approach is informed by how we view ourselves and the world through relationships (attachment theory) and trauma we have experienced directly or through generations. I’m also influenced by research into mindful self-compassion and “parts work” - the understanding that our personality is not one fixed “me” but made up of many aspects of ourselves like a diverse ecosystem. I additionally have training in CBT and solution-focused brief therapy, which I incorporate throughout sessions when appropriate. My style is warm, curious and attentive.
