Master of Arts in Social Work
I will partner with you in addressing your concerns in a safe, supportive, and confidential space. I provide psychodynamic therapy with holistic tools for grounding the heart and mind, to help you feel more bolstered and connected. My practice is anchored in the belief that all people have the ability to shift gears when they want to feel change. I work with the following goals in mind: to help you gain more clarity, to encourage and challenge you, and to guide you in feeling more "at home" in yourself, whatever that might mean to you right now.
I am an eclectic therapist with social work training in the bio-psycho-social-spiritual perspective, one that takes a wide lens in gathering the full story. I consider myself a woman of community, so I love brainstorming with clients on ways to feel more connected and alive. Mindfulness, social justice, humility, and self-compassion are the ideals that inspire and guide me the most.
I received my social work master's from New York University in 2014 and spent the next several years working as a program director for a wonderful grassroots program for low-income older adults. This work is dear to my heart as I learned what it meant to be both ally and leader and encountered the potential for resilience of the human spirit. Upon my move to California, I worked as a therapist for Kern County's crisis division up until I had a baby, which was when I decided to slow everything down and embrace the life-changing journey of motherhood. Since that time I have received advanced training in perinatal mental health to assist individuals and couples during pregnancy and after. I have continued to embark on both personal and professional trainings that inspire my work with clients.
As a therapist, I work with a psychodynamic, holistic, and solution-focused approach. This means we will bring in some of your early life history and use that information to bring meaning to current relationship and life dynamics. All the while we will actively work toward increasing your well-being, happiness, and connectedness. I draw from researched modalities including acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), mindfulness-based cognitive behavioral therapy and attachment theory as well as holistic mediums like guided relaxation, visualization, narrative journaling, and more.
