The focal point of my private practice is to prioritize the vast and unique experiences of adolescent & adult transracial adoptees of various racial, gender, and sexual identities and adoption configurations (e.g. domestic or international; open or closed). My ultimate hope is to create a familiar and safer space for transracial adoptees to cultivate compassion, clarity, and belonging while navigating various intersections of self, family, and community.
I am a domestic transracial adoptee and was raised by white adoptive parents in a closed-adoption configuration in rural, conservative California. I identify as a multiracial, two-spirit, Indigiqueer with Yaqui, Aztec, and European ancestries. Understanding my own adoption story has been defined by agonizing bewilderment and continues to be an ever-evolving journey made painfully hindered by the implications of the US adoption system. My process of reconciling identity and the woven experiences of privilege and trauma as a lighter-skinned, mixed-race transracial adoptee has greatly inspired my work as a teacher, writer, community organizer, and therapist and is why I am committed to creating a private practice specifically for other transracial adoptees to arrive as they are and heal.
My work with clients is held alongside values & an approach rooted in relational psychodynamic care, harm reduction, abolition, and decolonizing the mind-heart-body. As an adoption-oriented clinician, I am often also leaning on attachment theory and IFS to untangle the complexities of the adoptee experience. Additionally, I'm a community meditation teacher with formal and informal training in various indigenous and earth-based practices, and I appreciate the integration of western clinical modalities with our original medicine & wisdom teachings.
