Associate Marriage and Family Therapist, Masters in Counseling Psychology
I work with individuals and couples who are ready to make changes in their lives. You may be dealing with new and difficult circumstances or you may be ready to confront issues that have been bothering you for some time. Wherever you are, I am prepared to meet you there and to help you discover and move towards where you would like to be.
Personal growth comes from examining and sometimes re-writing our life stories; it also comes from attunement to the present and awareness of how our minds and bodies respond to our immediate context. The complex poetry and harmony of our lives is revealed and enhanced through interpretation, attention, and open communication, and I am here to help you develop and practice those skills in a welcoming, non-judgmental space.
I have a Master of Arts in counseling psychology from the Wright Institute. Prior to entering therapeutic practice I studied literature (PhD) and music extensively.
I believe that much psychological pain comes from being stuck in patterns of thought, behavior, and emotional response that were necessary for self-preservation at one point, but that no longer serve that purpose. I will help you develop awareness of harmful patterns and help you move beyond them in order to make your life more bearable and ultimately more fulfilling.
My approach is informed by a variety of humanistic, interpersonal, and empirically supported modalities, including: Emotionally Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Gestalt, Motivational Interviewing, mindfulness, and Existentialism.
