M.A. Counseling Psychology & Concentration in Expressive Arts Therapy
Liberating people of color & couples from cultural, sexual, & religious trauma through
trauma informed approaches, decolonized cultural practices, and art & dance
movement therapies. You CAN reclaim your multicultural identities, womanhood, body,
sexuality, & spirituality, so that you can reclaim your power and live your life. What
blocks you from stepping into your power? I will listen to you:
● “My cultural upbringing & painful past experiences hold me back…I just want to
feel safe enough to be myself”
● “I want to make my immigrant parents proud but I also want to live my life &
dreams…am I worthy of love?”
● “It feels like I’m a bridge between multiple lands & cultures but belong to
neither…I feel alone and want my community.”
● ”Sex, sensuality, my body, & intimacy bring me discomfort & shame…but I want
to feel connected to my body & sexuality.”
● “ My toxic partners & extremist religions always told me I was wrong…now I
always feel like I’m doing something wrong and want to trust myself more.”
● “Being a woman with fluctuating cycles & hormones in a hustle work culture is
overwhelming …I just want to slow down & feel more feminine.”
I welcome you to take back your power & be the goddess that you are! How would it be to feel empowered in your body, sexuality, sensuality, femininity, womanhood & multicultural identities, instead of feeling you’re on an uphill battle against yourself? You see, as women, we have not been taught to embrace the divine feminine goddess that we are. From our voices being silenced, to our bodies being oversexualized & shamed from conservative cultures, deep down you want to feel seen and heard. Can you relate to this? If you’re reading this far, I’m assuming you can relate.
The journey to awakening the goddess inside of you becomes a journey of RE-connecting & RE-membering her. Since many of us don’t have examples of what that looks like, the journey becomes a trial and error. Learning as you go, exploring what works and doesn’t work for you, and cycles of optimism, frustration, and sadness. You don’t have to go through this alone!
It was heartbreak & rock bottom in all areas of my life that awakened the goddess within me. The process of putting the pieces of my broken heart back together made me see the parts of myself that I was ashamed about. Ultimately we all want to be seen, heard and loved by our partners, family, friends, and mostly ourselves. I have danced back and forth in embracing my cultural identity, sexuality, womanhood & body in order to experience more connection, love, intimacy, and freedom in myself and others.
As a South Asian Indian American woman of color, born and raised in Washington D.C., I grew up with hip hop and rock music, giggled with school friends as English effortlessly grazed off my tongue, but would come home to my mother tongue language, Hindi & Marathi. I was struck by my parents’ dual life, holding the conflicting label of “model minority citizens”, to coming home and absorbing ourselves in Bollywood movies, yoga, Indian Classical dance, and spicy curries for dinner.
I know what it’s like to constantly switch between multicultural identities, but not feel a complete sense of belonging to either culture, thus making you long for a sense of home & belonging in yourself. I understand how cultural experiences & beliefs also impact you. It’s not easy, but what if I said,
You CAN honor your cultural upbringing and still say yes to yourself !
You CAN stop the past from haunting you and rewrite your story the way you want it to be told!
You CAN overcome the shame, guilt, fear & anxieties and reclaim your body, sexuality, cultural identities, relationships and most importantly yourself!
Women’s Therapy:
I don’t believe in talking at you but empowering you by creating an experience for you in our sessions so that I can witness your patterns in real time so you can empower yourself out from this negative cycle and together we can create change for your growth!
Healing doesn’t have to always feel heavy, it can also be playful and fun! I love incorporating creativity, spirituality, & decolonized cultural practices passed down from my ancestors.
Sometimes when words don’t do justice to how you feel we will tap into music, art, dance, poetry and the wisdom of your body to express and find your truth. Everything is an invitation and are tools that you can use to explore at your will and at your own pace.
Working through all the goddesses, from goddess Kali Ma’s fierceness, Isis’s magic of transformation, to embracing Aphrodite’s sensual beauty, we will explore & taste the goddess within you!
Couples Therapy:
My goal is to empower you to become fulfilled with yourselves and partner by breaking down the negative cycles you constantly find yourself stuck in our sessions and helping you both understand the layers of what is occurring for you, your partner, and the entire system you both co-create!
This way you will be able to better navigate situations when they arise with ease, and understanding on your own so you can experience improved communication, connection, intimacy, sex life, and trust with your partner!
