Master of Arts in Counseling Psychotherapy, with a concentration in somatic psychotherapy
Being a human being is complicated, complex, and can sometimes be overwhelming. I can meet you where you are, and together identify where you would like to go, and what parts of yourself you would like to call forward. I can help you explore your inner world, and help you connect your internal experiences to your external experiences. I work well with depression, anxiety, developmental trauma, inner-dynamics, and relational dynamics. I hold space for intersectional identities. You don' t have to be one thing, or move through the world in just one way. Together we can remember your inner richness, and bring those forward.
I am an inclusive, queer person of color who feels comfortable working with adults, couples, and children from all different backgrounds. If you are interested, please contact me for a free 20 minute consultation. Thank you!
Hi, my name is Yanni. I entered the field of psychology to deepen my self-awareness. This led me to understand and learn how to work with the traumatized parts within myself. This path to understanding myself inspired me to become a supportive tool for others. I started this work when I was nineteen years old as a modern dancer, which helped me to understand the body and mind connection. Throughout the years I have explored my intersectional identities, as a queer person and a person of color, among other identifiers.
Before starting graduate school, I studied movement and dance. I focused on connecting my internal experience and moving emotions out through my body. I have in-depth training as a somatic associate psychotherapist from my time at California Institute of Integral studies. I have experience with developmental trauma, anxiety, depression, accepting neurodivergence, gender exploration, and working with individuals within the LGBTQIA+ spectrum.
I approach this work through a relational-somatic lens. I believe healing happens when we are witnessed, validated, and received in a non-judgmental manner. I invite my clients to experience their emotions, not just from a cognitive place, but from also a physical space. My approach is non-violent, compassionate, and empowering.
