“The body is not all there is, but it is the only thing we can get our hands on” - Don Hanlon Johnson
Bodies have great wisdom. Cultivation of capacity for bodily awareness provides access to that wisdom to harness it for healing. I offer a safe and curious space to explore which patterns and behaviors have protected you as well as the ones that no longer serve you, so we can work to release or repurpose them. We will work together to learn about any activation in your body and we will get curious about what works to regulate it.
I truly believe that people are doing the best they can with whatever unique resources they have. My aim is to help you identify and build more resources, in order to feel more free - free to be more yourself, free to feel and express your vitality, and free to choose the life you want.
I have mixed heritage, mixed beliefs, and mixed practices, so I understand the importance of welcoming all parts of our identities to show up in our bodies and in the room. I practice a “both/and” model in my personal life and with my clients. When we welcome all parts of our identities, we promote integration of the whole person.
I studied Somatic Psychology at California Institute of Integral Studies and am currently pursuing dual licensure. I am a registered Associate Marriage and Family Therapy as well as a registered Associate Professional Clinical Counselor. I am also EMDR trained.
My background includes a long history in athletics and experience instructing Yoga and practicing Reiki.
I work somatically and relationally from a strengths-based model. I am inspired by Hakomi, Attachment Theory, Psychodynamics, Parts Work, Astrology, the Chakra system, I am EMDR trained, and I hold a trauma-informed perspective.
In session, we will gently invite your unconscious into the room. I will guide our collaborative use of tools for accessing bodily wisdom such as movement, visualization, breath-work, sensation tracking, posture and gesture exploration, and potentially some EMDR.
I believe that as humans, everything we do is in fact natural. From our physiology to neurology to sociological circumstances, I hold that all the parts of us are natural, and my goal is to bring freedom and choice to the ways we integrate our varied lived realities. There are many factors of experience (whether related to navigating racial identity, immigration/emigration, disability, trauma, etc.) that can feel like a blockage to our sense of freedom. Together we will find ways to address these layers of experience and foster a greater sense of agency in your life.

I honor that entering into a therapeutic relationship is a personal and important decision. With this in mind, I offer a free initial 20-minute phone consultation to allow us to get to know each other and see if we may be a good fit. In this consultation, I can answer any questions you have about myself and the therapeutic process, find out what brings you to therapy, and any goals you
may have.
If you are interested in working together, please reach out to me via email at sims.somatics@gmail.com. Alternatively, you can reach me 415-326-4023 to leave a confidential voicemail.
I look forward to hearing from you.
