I believe that we all have an innate wisdom about who we are, and how we are meant to be in this world. For a million different reasons you might have lost touch with this knowing and may be feeling lost, numb, disconnected, dissociated, anxious, unfulfilled, or burned out. Perhaps you have had a gradual realization that ‘this’ (no matter how good…or not) is not enough, or maybe you are in the midst of a life transition or a spiritual crisis. Or perhaps you find yourself wanting more - more fulfillment, more meaning, and more enjoyment of this one ‘wild and precious life.’ If this resonates with you, this is your sign that it is your time to claim that for yourself. This is your birthright.
I believe that personal growth and transformation happens when we are in authentic connection to ourselves, and to others. In our sessions I will use a relational approach, focusing on mind, body, and spirit. In short, we will come together as women (inclusive of anyone who self-identifies as such) have for millennia - transforming through stories and cultivating shared wisdom.
In my life and in my practice, I fancy myself part alchemist and part Renaissance woman. I blend different approaches in an integral way to support your personal transformation. In addition to being a therapist I have been a social justice researcher for twenty years, focusing on advancing racial and birth justice for BIPOC women. At the heart of all my work is a deep commitment to uplifting women. I have seen firsthand how magical and powerful we are, AND how difficult it is to thrive in our existing society. I am committed to supporting women pursuing individual liberation (and pleasure!) because I believe both are key for personal and collective transformation.
To begin, full disclosure, I am a nerd. I have a master’s and doctorate degree in social work, and a master’s degree in education. I am also in process of earning another master’s degree in East West Psychology, specializing in Spiritual Counseling from the California Institute of Integral Studies (CIIS) for ‘fun.’ However, despite all of this formal training (or perhaps because of it) I come to the therapeutic relationship with a firm understanding that you are the expert in your own life. I have a wide variety of approaches I can draw upon (e.g., eco-therapy, dream work, somatic/embodied work, etc.) but all in service of helping you tap into your own wisdom.
I see my role as a therapist to honor and hold space for your expertise, and to help you tune into your inner voice of knowing - that part of you that knows you are meant for a full, and fulfilling life. I believe we all have this voice, but we are more or less attuned to it at different points in our life. Sometimes, particularly in major life transitions, it can get louder (annoyingly so) which may feel like both a crisis, and an opportunity. For many of us, the pandemic unearthed feelings about the un-sustainability of our ‘business as usual,’ existence, but we need help to uncover what comes next. I hope to support you in working through anything holding you back, exploring who and how you want to be, and growing in ways that feel aligned with your purpose.
I commit to showing up as my whole self, and welcoming your whole self, centering acceptance, non-judgement, and a deep belief in your inherent ability to shape the kind of life you most want. I believe that we are at our most powerful when we are in relationship – to ourselves, to each other, to our communities, and to the environment - and I center this connectedness and alignment in my practice. The path of personal transformation can be difficult, but also incredibly rewarding. However, this path was one we were never meant to walk alone. There is power in the community of women, an if it feels aligned, I would be honored to walk alongside you on your journey.
