Thank you for taking the first steps towards making a change in your life! I know that it can be hard to ask for help. My compassionate, warm style will help you to feel at ease in therapy. My creativity as a therapist, alongside my wide range of clinical experience, will help to make your
experience in therapy both gentle and effective. My goal is to help you feel better quickly. After you’re feeling more at ease and calm, we can explore more opportunities for deep healing as they arise and at the pace that you choose. Our sessions will focus on what’s most important to you. I will tailor treatment so that it can best suit your needs.
I am a multi-ethnic cisgendered woman of color. I embrace all of my cultural identities and have been most recently connecting with my heritage as a Meshika, Azteca woman. I connect spiritually with nature and welcome clients to talk about their own sacred or nature connections as they choose. I also welcome clients to discuss any faith practices or beliefs that they have if they would like to do so. I welcome all clients. I invite you to bring all of your identities into our work together. Since sometimes it’s hard to find this in a therapist, I want to highlight that: I am comfortable discussing sexuality, working with clients in open relationships or traditional relationships, and working with Queer and Kink communities.
I experienced a single incident of trauma as a child and found that experience to be a formative part of my life as a human. My own processing of this trauma, and what I learned about my brain and body, have been an important part of my journey as a therapist. I have been a
participant in therapy and I have sat with my own shadows. I also found a lot of hope and beauty. There are some gifts that have come into my life as I sat with my pain. I hope that this will be true for you too.
I have been most drawn to looking at the connection between our bodies and mental health. This is often referred to as somatic therapy. I also am a former art teacher and love incorporating creative writing and arts therapy interventions into our work. Together we will talk through what’s going on for you, and do activities that will help support you in your healing journey.
I have experience working with people who are needing lots of support (in-patient or in-home visits), as well as those who wanted therapy in an office. I have also accompanied people on their journey of harm reduction with substances. Much of my work has been providing individual therapy but I’m also experienced in leading groups and working with families. I love helping families and loved ones reconnect with one another.
Our work together will be all about you and what you most need. I will tailor therapy to suit you. I want you to feel relief quickly, and then hopefully, you will be interested in exploring some deeper patterns. I want you to leave therapy with the tools and insight that will help you
to be happier and more content.
There are many ways we might work together:
I weave in Somatic therapy interventions like: sensorimotor, Energy Psychology, EMDR
I use creative exercises like creative writing and expressive arts interventions.
I bring in CBT, DBT, and Narrative Therapy Strategies as Needed.
I utilize tools to help with transition and integration from any major experience. This might include integration after a ritual or medicine journey. I can also help you develop a ritual to mark something significant that is happening in your life, be that divorce or relationship change, a changing aspect of your identity, a loss, career change, or a major milestone.
Kindness, attunement, and respect will be ever present to support your journey towards healing. As we work together, it is my intention that you will feel the care I have for you, (in a professional way). Additionally, I hope that you will grow in love for yourself and in your capacity to receive love from the important people in your life.
