Being raised in an immigrant, working class family taught me the value of respect, humility, and looking out for one another. I carry these values in any space I operate in, whether it’s in my own family, community, and my professional space. I know that it can be a struggle to reach out for help when you might be disconnected from yourself and others, which is why I value any person that reaches out to me.
As a first-generation person of color raised in East Los Angeles and of immigrant parents from Mexico, it has been a healing journey for me to work through my own trauma to be fully present and genuine with any one I am working with. I am here to help you address issues pertaining to your past, present, and future self to heal and begin to take the steps in breaking negative generational cycles.
Therapy is dynamic, intimate, scary, safe, and healing. I provide individual, couples, and family therapy via telehealth. I work with clients that want to examine how their family and relationships have influenced and impact them, heal from trauma, and examine their place in the larger historical context of society. I collaborate in finding ways to address the cycles that impact any person I work with. No matter where you are from, the essence of finding the cycles that persist from generation to generation is important in addressing the root of our issues
Being raised in an immigrant, working class family taught me the value of respect, humility, and looking out for one another. I carry these values in any space I operate in, whether it’s in my own family, community, and my professional space. I am intentional in decolonizing therapy by bringing in parts of myself that are important in creating a safe space. So sometimes I will use slang, I will be attuned to culture and la cultura, society, and the use therapy to explore and process the impact of our social political environment. I have 13 years of experience providing therapy and I am bicultural and bilingual so if need be we can have our whole session in Spanglish.
I have experience working with diverse populations in community, school, and clinical settings. I have passion in working with many folks including trauma survivors, couples, families, elders, first generation folks, fathers, parents, men, first timers in therapy. I incorporate a social justice lens to analyze the impact of how our intersecting identities and social forces impact our mental health. I collaborate with you in the process of healing and tap into your inner strengths, while identifying your negative cycles. In the therapy sessions, we will explore and draw connections to our roots, I will use a combination of different therapy approaches to address the internal, historical, or family cycles that impact our mind, body, and soul.
In the therapy sessions, we will explore and draw connections to our roots, I will use a combination of family systems approach, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), EMDR, mindfulness, psychodynamic, and trauma-informed therapy to address the internal, historical, or family cycles that impact our mind, body, and soul. I look forward to joining you in your journey!
