Are you tired of feeling stuck in life, but don’t know how to begin to change? Maybe you become caught up in worry spirals, feel paralyzed by indecision and perfectionism, struggle to create boundaries, constantly second-guess yourself, or worry about what others think of you. Or perhaps you’re experiencing more anxiety, loneliness and disconnect in your relationships. You may even find it hard to remember a time you didn’t feel like this. But life can be different.
You don’t have to continue feeling overwhelmed by worry and self-doubt, and you don’t have to do it alone. It is possible to feel better. It is possible to feel more empowered in your life and more connected in your relationships. It is possible to quiet your inner critic so that you can live the more joyful life you deserve. I can help you get there.
I work with teens, adults, and couples in support of their exploration of a wide range of issues and challenges. Some areas of focus that I work with are:
□ Financial Anxiety
□ Trauma
□ People-pleasers
□ Brainspotting (weekly and Intensives)
□ Relationship anxiety
□ Communication and boundary setting
□ Codependence
□ Identity exploration (sexuality, gender identity, racial identity, etc.)
□ Whiteness / Participation in systems of oppression
Clients come to me looking for a therapist who truly gets how anxiety and trauma can derail their lives and relationships, because therapy should be a place where you feel seen and understood. Sessions with me help reveal your inner capacity to heal. Together, we help you create the life you want.
I specialize in financial anxiety, relationship anxiety, trauma, and Brainspotting. My background in evidence-based and trauma-informed therapies means I have the tools to help you identify unhelpful patterns and make meaningful change. Whatever brings you to therapy, I work to truly understand the root of the issue to help you achieve lasting results.
As therapists go, I'm warm and conversational. I believe that ultimately you know what is best for you and will collaborate with you to reconnect with your inner voice. I will also share my observations about what might be going on or draw attention to patterns that I see. I'm curious, engaged, and enjoy exploring new ways of thinking about what's happening in your life and the ways the values and assumptions you have learned from your family and culture(s) affect the way you think and feel. I'm responsive to feedback and think humor has an important role in the therapy process.
I have worked in a variety of settings including public schools, community mental health clinics, and private practice working with clients from age 5 to 99.
I earned my master of arts degree in Counseling Psychology from the Wright Institute and hold bachelor degrees in Mathematics and Economics from the University of Washington. Additionally, I hold an MBA from Georgetown University. Prior to becoming a therapist, I spent over a decade working in the finance industry.
As an experienced anxiety therapist, I believe that you can reconnect with your inner strength and begin to heal. You don’t have to continue feeling overwhelmed by worry and self-doubt, and you don’t have to do it alone.
I have training in many different types of therapy and my style is direct and eclectic. Depending on your needs, I use techniques from a variety of theoretical orientations including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Narrative, Psychodynamic, and Mindfulness. I also incorporate self-compassion practices and feminist theory into my work.
I believe that in order to address our mental health struggles at their root, it is critical that we look at not just what is happening in our own minds, relationships, and families, but to also consider the systems that we are a part of and the many ways they corrode our souls (via racism, sexism, ageism, fatphobia, transphobia, homophobia, classism, and other forms of oppression)
