The pace and complexity of life these days can make it really hard to understand how or what we are feeling, and why we're feeling that way. Too often, we are urged to ignore or push away key needs and parts of ourselves in order to be - or do - what seems to be required of us. Somewhere in the midst of this, our relationships to ourselves can get eclipsed, murky, lost.
I offer therapy to re-integrate these key parts of you, so that you can address the challenges that you are up against with more self-understanding and insight; with your whole self.
I’m committed to creating a therapeutic space where you really can bring any version of yourself; where we start from exactly where you are.
I do this work because I absolutely believe that a strong therapeutic relationship can be a potent tool for cultivating your growth, healing, and steady sense of self. I'm here to build this with you.
I approach individual therapy and relationship therapy by listening to and learning about how you are experiencing yourself and your life.
In working with individuals, I offer collaboration in connecting you to your strengths, developing tools and coping skills for addressing your challenges and stuck places, and using your creativity and self-knowledge to design sustainable healing, growth habits, and ways to accept and get to know yourself more deeply. I also support you in gaining deeper insight into how the details/timelines of your life have developed, and how they may reflect traumas that you are processing, survival behaviors that you may be outgrowing or needing to consider the impact of, or societal/cultural expectations that you have inherited and are grappling with.
I help those in couples and other relationships to identify the patterns, triggers, and unmet needs that are making things difficult in your relationship. Through witnessing and understanding more about each other's vulnerabilities and needs, we work to clarify what is possible, and what we can do to reconnect you to your aligned sense of purpose and place within (or outside of) the relationship.
I come to my therapy practice from a previous career in dance, somatics, arts advocacy, and community organizing. I find the therapuetic relationship to be a powerful opportunity for clients to connect to impulse and experience deep and bold curiosity; an experience that is fueled by improvisation, instinct, and close listening to self.
I hold a Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology from Sonoma State University, and a Master of Arts In Human Sexuality Studies from San Francisco State University.
As a therapist, I have supported individuals and couples through all stages of life. I intentionally do not have a "niche" client, because I find that working with a highly diverse client base allows me to cross-reference and draw from many versions of humanity, perspective, and resilience. In addition to working from a systemic lens with many versions of anxiety, depression, and overwhelm, I have also worked with people whose life experience has included: survival of abuse, self-harm, disordered eating, suicidal thoughts, family and partners of people struggling with addiction, and a number of other forms of acute and ongoing grief and trauma.
I use a diverse tool belt of approaches: Internal Family Systems/Parts Work, Experiential and Creative Therapies, Somatic Awareness and Mindfulness, Emotion Focused Therapy, and Narrative Therapies. Most importantly though, I use the tool of being truly with you: I will be right there listening, collaborating, guiding, nudging, and offering ideas and reflections for your process of getting to know yourself more deeply and with more alignment, reconciliation, and acceptance.
